For black Saints, forgetting the LDS Church's racist heritage is easier said than done
Darron Smith, author and adjunct sociology professor at Brigham Young University, recently appeared on a local TV station to promote Black and Mormon, a collection of essays he co-wrote and edited about the black experience in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The next day, Smith says BYU’s sociology department received a phone call from an irate woman “calling me all kinds of niggas.”
